As we've got popular threads on Elvis and the Femmes running at the moment, which some members are using to catch up on artists who eluded them in the past, I thought I'd start a thread on Iggy as he's one that passed me by a little, ashamedly I'm sure. So I'm hoping Iggyites out there can start my education proper. I only have Lust For Life but I was thinking of trying to get hold of that boot that FB took to Puerto Rico.

Oh and why Iggy? Well Like Costello and the Femmes I think he was a central influence on FB.

The Stooges reunion DVD is pretty decent if you want to see some video. I forget what it's called but it's one of their reunion shows in Detroit.

The clips I've just heard from Raw Power sound great. I hope the wit of the man comes through on them. First Iggy line that registered with me was 'I'm worth a million in prizes' which along with Siouxsie's 'Girl's with eyes like swimming pools' line from Make Up To Break Up defined punk for me. I'll see if I can get hold of Mantra Sessions too, thanks.

I have a few tracks from Raw Power. That's what I'd start with.

'The Mantra Sessions' bootleg is awesome, the 1977 band (hunt and tony sales rhythm section, ricky gardiner guitar, david bowie keyboards).

I think I've posted this elsewhere on this forum, but it's worth posting here. It's from the movie "Coffee and Cigarettes." It's Iggy Pop and Tom Waits, with Waits being hilariously passive-aggressive and Iggy not knowing how to react.

Please pardon me, for these my wrongs.

I would recommend "The Idiot" for a start too, and also "New Values" and "Blah Blah Blah" for the classic ones. As for the latest ones, I would say "Avenue B" (Iggy's Honeycomb I would say) and "Skull Ring".

'The Idiot' is well worth getting your hands on too.
