Sorry Coastline, I'm working on the real stuff.
I put that video up for viewing only by the guys that were there that night but somehow it was posted as public. I pulled it but a couple of my subscribers said it was "hysterical" so I put it back up. ?

thanks, i was puzzled with the youtube recommendations of uploading video in mpeg4, 320x240 res, mp3 audio and 30 fps, because afterwards they apparently resize it to 424x318 and transcode it to flv format. i figured it would be better if the transcoding process didn't have to maul the final video any more (in premiere pro for instance you can export directly into flv) and i've read about and seen many attempts at trying to "fool" the youtube upload-and-transcoding process that would make videos look better and quick-loading, but nothing definitive on the subject.

Posted - 07/04/2007 : 01:16:35 After I make these clips in my movie program, in order for me to turn it into an uploadable flick for YouTube I go to "Share" ( I have a Mac) and from there I usually am choosing "CD Rom" quality. But now I've been going to expert settings and choosing MP4. I tried it several times before getting it right.
Sounds like you may know more about DV than me but the key for you tube apparently is MP4 |

Posted - 07/04/2007 : 01:11:05 Well, I'm new at this but I'm finding if you initially import from the camera at the mp4 setting it's better quality. The flicks that are blurry are ones I can't sem to correct because of that initial mistake. Whatever options they give you look for mp4. If you import from the DV tape then make the movie and try to upload that your movie will be a big blob. NAother thing I'm trying is to record onto the tape at the LP setting. Like I said I'm new but it' seems to be working. The best quality one seems to be "Bomb Hills" and all the setting were done right on that one. The Frank Black one was really just a test run holding a Cannon Delphi. It's blurrier than I like. |

Posted - 07/03/2007 : 23:34:56 hey, i have some questions: in what format do you upload to youtube; codec, dimensions, framerate, details please? i'm curious because it's both very good quality and loads quickly.
what do you use for editing?
in the baja video what did you do to get the low framerate - set it low at rendering the output video or did something else in editing?
great videos and great choice of music, btw. i liked a lot that part at the start of the first video when you hit the skateboard and the TBR riff goes off.
