I'm really digging the Hold Steady. I actually went to college with Craig Finn, but didn't really know him. I bought Live at Lollapalooza from ITunes awhile ago and just bought Boys and Girls in America. Goddamn they are good. I think you just have to really buy into it to love it. Just listen and enjoy. I hear there is a lot of criticism about them because of Craig's vocals (basically almost the same vocal style each song) and the lyrical content (running theme of drug use and spirituality amongst a small cast of characters), but I think the vocals and lyrics are part of what make them so good.

Just wondering if anyone else here likes them. If not, go check them out. There's a bunch of videos on Youtube as well.

I think it was Sportsnet that played "Chips Ahoy!" as the background for a sports highlights-of-the-week montage. Very good stuff.
