This topic has totally cracked me up. I was actually having belly laughs, which doesn't happen every year let me tell you. And I like the sig. Makes me long for a world in which after even the most casual conversation somebody or everybody mutters "idiot", as if to punctuate reality.

If you restrict time you can do a full text search, but yeah, it's pretty terrible. You can use Google search as well for old topics.

I've found that the search function works for the topic name only. As soon as you go for the full text option the wheels fall off.

As an idiot (in tiny font) who's had two recent topics locked I can say that it's fine, I didn't feel offended, I only felt moderated. Quite a nice feeling actually. So no further explanation needed. Thanks for your patience and effort starmekitten.
PS Might have been avoided if even the topic only search function didn't always timeout.

Sorry guys but that's how people here show others that the topic has already been covered. It doesn't require an explanation really. I can see how you may have taken the sig. the wrong way though, I didn't recognise it as such when I first saw it.
I can assure you though that it will take her a little longer to think of you an idiot.
That said, welcome to the forum, enjoy.

I can assure you there is no ill intent in linking and locking, it's just how things are done. I don't have time to sit and write explanations and apologies for every bit of moderation I do, I barely have time to moderate at the moment. There was a recent thread with the same content so it got locked. The link is meant to be the explanation and if there is any confusion over that I'm happy to take it up in email. hey i agree that there does need to be control in these situations. But in all newbies defense, because i haven't been here long myself: if it had not been for my good friend kfs, i would have been making all kinds of mistakes. and maybe idiot is not the best sig in the world and maybe a simple email explaining about where to post certain topics would have been better. when i first started posting i got a nice little email explaining to me about double posting. i didn't get offended at all, because it was polite. and it was info i needed to know. its all in the presentation.
