I know a couple of you use it. Good/bad experiences to share? Does it work overseas (say UK/Canada)? Thanks.

like coasty said...just make sure whoever you wanna talk to is also a member and then it's all 100% free wherever the other person lives.
it really is a brilliant little program/gadget/toy.

you don't even need a fast internet connection.
a friend of mine is only on dialup, and while the video capability is not much use, the audio bit is fine and dandy.

Skype-to-Skype is free. Calling phones costs money.

Have Matt show you how it works, Kathryn. It's my understanding they use it quite a bit.

Please pardon me, for these my wrongs.

Thank you all so much. So, um, not to sound like a Luddite moron, but it's free, right?

I have friends in New Zealand and we use it regularly to have conversations we could never afford to have on the phone. We just "rendezvous" at a given time (usually Friday or Saturday evening here/Saturday or Sunday morning there). Most of the times it works fine, and whenever the line is a bit choppy, I don't think the software itself is at fault anyway.

I've never used it to call a phone number though, and do not plan to.

My wife and I have used it a lot the last year. She travels to Europe quite a bit, and it saves us money to talk on Skype instead of phones. I'm not always near a computer when she's away, so she'll call my cell phone with her Skype. The sound quality is always good, and the delay is never any worse than when we talk phone-to-phone. They have a deal where you can call anywhere in Canada or the U.S. for $30 a year (unlimited time), which we've considered buying. They also have good rates to most countries -- except Mexico, for some reason. We ran out of time quickly when she went there. I can't say I have any complaints about Skype. The interface works great on both Mac and PC, and buying time is really easy. If I remember right, you need to use Paypal. Might wanna check that, though. All in all, two thumbs up from the coastlines.

Please pardon me, for these my wrongs.
