I read this play in one of my classes. I hope to see a live performance someday, but they are coming out with the movie. Johnny Depp is playing Sweeney Todd's character. I think it is going to be an awesome movie. I am a big fan of Johnny Depp ever since seeing him on a tv show a long time ago called 21 jump street. Anyway, I think Depp is going to be a phenomenal Sweeney Todd.

The first pics of Depp as Todd popped up on the net a while ago:

The waxworks were an immensely eloquent dissertation on the wonderful ordinariness of mankind.

There is a movie of this that was I think on TV (maybe theaters) starring Angela Lansbury back in the early 80's. I think it was a filming of the Broadway musical, maybe shown on Public Broadcasting networks. I remember watcing it as a kid and thinking it was very strange. I've seen it live as well about 15 years ago, and really enjoyed it. This new movie should be worth checking out, I imagine.
