I love both. If I had to pick one it would be Luna. Listen to Lunapark
their first Luna album.

I've been listening to G500's(Boston) Today on my Ipod shuffle.
The white one. Almost about to burn out the album.

The Galaxie 500 from montreal is a pretty cool band... (we've got a nice "scene" going on here)

here is their website, the intro page features one of their songs (with lyrics like "the rain sounds like fire today/the devil is a car frame".. but in french it sounds cool...):
http://www.g500.net/

and then if you click to enter, you can see their video.. it's not very good, but the song at least is.

Damon and Naomi live in my neighborhood. I see them at the store and in their car. I uused to see them all the time when I worked at Harvard and they were grad students there. I actually don't know any of their music. I just know who they are and see them every once and awhile around the block.

John Malkcovich lives in my neighborhood too. Also, Justice Stephen Breyer of the US Supreme Court. Cool 'hood.

Oh, I haven't forgotten it - it's got some of their best stuff on it. But I'd put it in the "inconsistent" category. I absolutely love about half of it, but could leave the rest.

Well they sing in French for a start, and they are quite blues-y, but in a punky way.

I hate describing bands. Or trying to.

When I am back on the net at home, I will email you some of their stuff. Probably be in a few weeks.

I like both Galaxie 500 and Luna. It's really hard to chose. I knew Galaxie 500 before Luna, because my brother owned This Is Our Music by them (which I finally bought recently). It's one of the records that rocked my childhood, then I have a soft spot for G500.

When I started to hear about Luna I didn't knew the link between G500 and them. It's only after a while that I realized. They put out some very good records like Romantica. But I don't know all their albums. I still have to work on it.

I'm curious about what you guys say about that G500 from Montreal. Is it a new band? How do they sound like?

You're the first person I know of who seems ot know of the Montreal Galaxie 500. I found out about them after downloading some Galaxie 500 songs from Limewire. I obviously realised I had two bands on my hands, and found out more about the Canadian version (which was tricky).

It's hard to seperate the Boston G500 from Luna, the band they spawned. I have to say though that I actually like Elk City, the other band they spawned, most of all. Anyone else like them?

The canadian Galaxie 500 are excellent. I really want to know about them, and wish they would come to the UK (though I hope they change their name too, to stop the confusion).

Luna2 is what they were called on the first album, but then they got the rights to the name worked out, so it was Luna after that.

Inconsistent, but there's a great body of work in there.

I'd suggest Penthouse, Lunapark, Bewitched and their final album Rendezvous was incredible as well.
