Back in my early teens I was searching for a good band to get into. A life defining band.
Somehow I thought: “Man, Feeder are awesome. Echo Park is such a great album!”
Luckily, I discovered Pixies, and the legacy that followed them. I was rescued from a life of crap bippity bop shite.
So, have any of you ever stopped, and sighed with relief that you changed your musical tastes for the greater good of evolved mankind?
(No offence to anyone here who actually like Feeder)

I went back and listened to Feeders first album (Swim. ie when they had long hair) And i have to admit, i still find some appeal there. But it's still not as good as i remember.
And it's so strange to listen to that album and think about where they ended today

I went through a phase when I listened to some country music. When I became really depressed, I knew I could not listen to country anymore. country music is just too depressing.

i've never listened to much feeder, but it was because buck rogers was played on the radio that i got into the pixies. my brother seemed to think it sounded like the pixies, and reckoned i'd like them..
(so i guess my presence on here is another reason for you to hate feeder)

Yeah my girlfriend and I were saying just the other day (as I was turning the radio off as Feeder came on), that their first album was pretty good (or so I thought at the time, I haven't heard it in years).

I have to say though that I would never listen to Limp Tampax... fuck that. My mates and I went on a Rock Crusade in the winter of 2000 / Summer 2001. We saw pretty much ever stadium rock act that played the shores of Great Britain... Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Motorhead you name it... then one of my friends got all excited that Limp Bizkit were coming... he was swiftly exiled from the tour of Rock.

Nothing wrong with Metallica. Sure, James and Lars are complete pricks but some of the music they have produced over the years is great. Gonna be seeing them in June, cannot wait as they are amazing live
I feel ashamed that I went through a very very brief period where I thought that Oasis were good. But I never really listened to their music and certainly never thought that it was the best thing I had ever heard....

I like Feeder. I've only got their 'singles' compilation, but it's not bad. I listened to Limp Bizkit the other day too. Pretty much anyone I've ever listened to I still do occasionally, just nowhere near as much as Frank Black.

Back in the 80's it was Echo and the Bunnymen for me. I think they're pretty mediocre now but at their peak they had quite similar dynamics musically to Pixies. |
