Check out http://speedtest.net/ Because the speed of your connection will determine if you are better than other people around you
^I find this strange as Opera tells me my download speed is 3k-4k

Posted - 04/04/2007 : 16:27:43 Ah, the days of waiting several minutes for a 168k pic of some chick whom you weren't even sure was going to be topless until the download got past her neck. You'll miss that, Sean.
Please pardon me, for these my wrongs. |

Posted - 04/04/2007 : 16:03:40 Supposedly there will be a rollout of 4G broadband for 100% of Ireland. I read that 4G broadband has speeds of 100mbps in mobile conditions and 1GBps in stationary, is that right? 1GBps? It’ll be a big jump from 3k for me

This one's from work. Do those of us with higher upload than download speeds get a prize?

Posted - 03/26/2007 : 14:26:28 wonder how long it would take for you to download bluefinger with your internet connection, carl. you'd probably get it before most of us.

If i was lived 1km south of where i am right now, i'd be near enough to the exchange to get broadband

Posted - 03/25/2007 : 17:25:20 32 k per second, Sean? That is insanely slow. We should have tried a little test with that CD I sent you by mail -- to see if it could fly to Ireland faster than a download of it had gone.
Mine was 4,606 down and 354 up. I could stand a little more on the up side, but it's hard to beat 4,606 for only $50 (U.S.) per month.
Grand Marnier and a pocketful of speed. We did it all day until we started to bleed. |

Posted - 03/25/2007 : 15:13:30 they mean kilobits. so divide by 8: that's 4 down.
i got 1518 (190) down and 382 (48) up. 55ms latency, 50 miles away.
rubbish for what should be up to 8000 down!
