The new QOTSA is meant to be released in june with special guests like Mark Lanegan, Billy Gibbons, Julian Casablancas (?!), and Trent Reznor...

I'm really excited too about this one.

They recently posted a short video and a funny message about it on their official website:

http://www.rekordsrekords.com/qotsa/videos/Q2.1.mov

"2/14/2007
I was at the Sizzler today.

Hitting the cheese bread pretty hard you know how I do.

Heard a French guy in the booth behind me dropping bombs.

Turns out QOTSA are going to be doing some press to announce the new album.

the Dr. is not gonna be scooped like a pile of potato salad.

The record is called Era Vulgaris.

It's coming out in June.

Your fake track lists makes the Dr. laugh like a little girl.

Into the Hollow

Sick, Sick, Sick

Misfit Love

Battery Acid

Could be song titles. or could not.

It took me a few spins to appreciate this album.
It really settled in after the concert last week.
My ears are still a bit ringy.
God that man is talented, the music is really intricate, this ain't no 3 chord grunge band.

At one point between songs he played the first couple of notes of El Rodeo which is quite distinct. I thought he was going to play it for sure. My husband freaked thinking he was going to play some Kyuss too. I don't think too many others noticed. I can't believe how many people love Queens and don't know who Kyuss is. Makes me wonder if he played those notes on purpose.

__________
Fuck off I got work to do.

Objet : Concert Queens Of Stone Age

Bonjour,

Cordialement,

remig

any chance this album will be as good as Rated R or the self titled? Songs of the deaf was alright, a little popish for me, lullabies to paralyze wasn't bad but those first two albums kicked ass. I'd love to hear some new material from them if its good.

The Queens w/o Nick O is kind of like Darryl Hall w/o John Oates.

As for the Lanegan stuff, I just picked up the Winding Sheet recently and really like it. Did the Screaming Trees ever record when Josh Homme was in the group?

I found Bubblegum pretty underwhelming save a couple songs, though Dust is majestic.

You're not wrong about the other solo albums (that's why I prefer the Screaming Trees), maybe there's also a problem of production and arrangements, but Bubblegum is perfect.

His other solo albums are nice but a bit disappointing, in my opinion. They somewhat lack personality.

It's funny because I've been listening to it this last monday evening, and it was quite a while since I haven't. Lots of good songs on it, and this voice...

I bought it when it came out (I'm a big fan of the Screaming Trees), and it's indeed a really good album, perhaps his best solo one. If you like it, you should listen to the "Screaming Trees Anthology" or to their last album called "Dust", it's pretty good too...

I wonder when he will record a new one by his own, it's been a while since "Bubblegum".
