Posted - 01/27/2007 : 12:06:00 Thought a good deal of you all would be interested in this; there is a free exhibition on Vaughan Oliver/v23 contributions to 4AD over the years at the Stanley Picker Gallery in Kingston-upon-Thames, London. It's quite nice. It's a small, quaint little University gallery and the exhibition is soundtrack'd by a 4AD mix of the old and new.
I thoroughly recommend popping down to it if you're nearby or fancy spending the day in Kingston. The river is nice down Kingston way too, but there's not much else here (except maybe the UK's largest Odeon, or perhaps you'd like to find out what the UK's lowest teenage pregnancy location is like). There's a cracking pub down the road, if you fancy a pint; on a sweltering sunday afternoon last summer, having just had a game of footie in the park, we ventured in for a couple of pints to find the entire Unknown Pleasures album on repeat. Quite weird.
Posted - 02/01/2007 : 13:50:28 thanks! defo going to check that out - esp as im considering moving to kingston, so need to get down and have another looka round anyway!
did you see this at the end of the article? "A special Slightly off the Ground/4AD event is being planned to take place to accompany the exhibition. Date and venue tbc."
Sounds pretty exciting.
