Posted - 02/08/2007 : 11:15:34 The other day I watched "The Battle of Algiers" (1967), which featured a soundtrack by Morricone. Unfortunately, from the standpoint of this topic, I cannot report on the music as I was too involved with the historical content to focus on the music. Great movie, recommended especially given the currency of Islamic uprising. It was fascinating to see how self-aware the tactics of the resistance were, and how much they resembled what is apparently taking place today. However, I must admit I am unable to separate the Italian interpretation from portrayed sophistication of the resistance tactics and the French response. Interesting contrast of pragmatics and principle on the parts of both, which are credited with highly developed realtime awareness of just what they were involved in. Of note: the movie was banned in France and the US/UK releases omitted the torture sequences. I will need to watch again, with greater attention to the soundtrack.

It's arguable I suppose. Is he re-doing the pieces or just signing off on them w/o looking (or listening) to the rest of the contributions? Whatever the situation, this just seems like it would really blow. I'm not gonna take my chances. _____________________________________________________________________________________________ "OFFICIAL" INTERNET TOUGH GUY. |
