Haha, brilliant.
I hate the way all Emo bands cite Fugazi as an influence. It's enough to put anyone off who hasn't heard them.

Posted - 11/23/2006 : 00:00:02 Dude I'm sorry, despite the origin of the word 'emotive hardcore' or whatever you want to call it has very little to do with these new 'emo' bands. Although the comparison I drew might seem extreme, it seems to me pretty much these days that this emo style has crossed over into many genres including rock....all these labels are all a bunch of rubbish anyway. The only ones I need are good fucking music and everything else. |

Posted - 11/22/2006 : 18:28:39 emo is short for emotive hardcore, i.e. an emotive form of hardcore punk, not an emotive form of MUSIC in general. might want to read up a bit about how it started and got it's name first.

Posted - 11/22/2006 : 18:17:05 Not only do I hate the genera...I hate the term. Since when is it original to make 'emotionally charged' music? By that definition tons of great artists are 'emo'. Hell, by that definition Frank would be emo (not that I'm suggesting this is true). The problem I have is the way that the 'emotions' are being displayed (in a completely excessive and inappropriate way) not that there is a presence of emotion. |

Posted - 11/22/2006 : 14:32:13 I used to be able to, it was like a more intelligent So.Cal pop-punk for me; but some exceedingly bad bands have tainted the lot, and now it all sounds ridiculous. I could find you more actually emotional artists playing drum and bass these days.

Posted - 11/22/2006 : 13:11:46 My bandmate and I are in the planning stages of making a video podcast in which we give "songwriting lessons." It'll obviously be a joke. We've decided to do a four-part series on writing an emo song. The subject matter will be divided as follows: Episode 1: Clothing and hair. Episode 2: Clothing and hair. Episode 3: Trying to think of things to whine about. Episode 4: Finishing trying to think of things to whine about. Thirty seconds of actually composing the song.

Posted - 11/22/2006 : 12:09:21 what do you call "emo"? I never really understood what it meant... some bands that I really like are sometimes considered as "emo" by critics: Fugazi, At The Drive-In, Weezer...
