I'd like to share a review of the new cd by BAD ASTRONAUT, a side project of Lagwagon's Joey Cape, a songwriter inspired by Frank, and equally experimental with sound.

The album is titled Twelve Small Steps, One Giant Disappointment

Collectively, Joey's best album. Experiments with sounds in a way that is haunting at times and raises the hair on your neck. Songs like "Beat" really bring you through an experience that is sonically enveloping. His use of layering instrumentation and melodies creates a unique sound that puts you inside the speaker. Lyrically, a very personal album, confronting the ubiquity of death and the destructive nature of human existence. Yet burried deep within each song is a melody of hope or aspiration, or at least the idea that something out there matters.

Any fan of early Frank Black would enjoy this album emensily, it's availbe on iTunes.

Please spread the word of this artist to your friends.

I think a lot of Frank fans would appreciate said music.

take care.

Sorry if i seemed harsh, but we get a lot of these posts that appear to be legit, and then wind up on four different sections of the site as spam. Just being precaucious. Thanks for posting, and i'll have to check out this album, as i liked the first BA album.

I never would have put Joey Cape and Frank Black in the same bracket, but I guess I see where you're coming from. I used to really enjoy Agrophobe - I don't know if this is the last BA record or the one before, but it's really quite good. Cool cover of Needle In The Hay.

i'd be interested to check this out. I used to listen to a little lagwagon back in the day.
