Anyone ever have and want to share weird things that have happened to them medically? I freak out easily when I have so much as a hair grow somewhere it never had before. Medical stuff doesn't bother me, except for when it pertains to it happening to me.

Last week I had a bit of a sore throat, and thought nothing of it. A few days ago, I began to notice a slight swelling under my left ear at the back of my jawline. It didn't hurt, but I became alarmed. I let it go, and it became more swollen. Now, mind you, NO ONE else even notices this...but to me I feel like I have a cantaloupe on the side of my neck. Yesterday, beside myself with horror, I called the doctor (I have terrible doctor-phobia...I don't know why...my grandfather suffered this too, and wound up dying because he was too freaked out about going to the doctor...so I'm trying to NOT be that way), and this morning I went to see him. Turns out it's nothing but a lymph node swelling due to allergies. He said it'll be gone in the next ten days, and gave me ibuprofen! So I paid $23 for that. At least I know it's not a cantaloupe.

Please share your medical horror stories. The stranger and grosser the better. And please stay clear of stories pertaining to others that you've heard about. Tell your own! Oh yeah...whatever happened with this? Okay.......fire away!

The placenta's in the freezer. The kid's 5 years old.

It's always good to keep the freezer stocked with wholesome, nutrional food.

That said, I'm guilty of the odd frozen pizza myself.

I'd walk her everyday, into a shady place

Ooh! That reminds me! When I was like 4 years old, my whole toenail on my big toe fell off after my foot was hit with a bathroom door at a grocery store.

When I was about ten a giant, pus-filled sac developed on my left thumb. I have no idea why it appeared, and I can't recall my mom even taking me to the doctor. Anyway, it finally burst after about a week, and my thumbnail actually fell off. It was pretty rockin'.

oooooooh! That's a good one Carl! Let me be the first to thank and congratulate Carl for his courage and generosity in sharing his hard-to-pronounce-because-I-was-too-lazy-to-try ailment. Kudos! Who's next?

I have non-contagious and pretty harmless yeast fungus skin rash called Pityriasis Versicolor. You can use Nizoral to treat it.

Not as sad as I am, K. In fact, despite my despondence, I cannot shed a tear due to a tearduct cyst I am currently sufferring from. Escuse me while I go vomit intestinal pus.

I'm saddened by the lack of response to this thread. It's a disappointment to Frank, to be sure.
