I am really getting into my shoegazing at the moment. Aside from the bands I already own CD's by (Ride, My Bloody Valentine, Jesus & The Mary Chain, The Radio Dept, Autolux, Amusement Parks On Fire), can anyone else recommend any good 'shoegazing' albums?

I've heard of a few of those bands, I think I saw the Boo Radleys once, or saw that they played here, and I liked that Verve hit enough to buy a CD single.
That song reminds me of another song I liked enough to by a single, Fools Gold by the Stone Roses, is that the right arena?
It's All Too Much by the Beatles' from Yellow Submarine. I also group Way Down Now by World Party (which is similar enough to, that the band decided to quote from Sympathy for the Devil) and Life's What You Make It (always loved that video) by Talk Talk with those. "Vamps", catchy songs with little or no direction that go on and on.
I also used to call songs at that tempo walking music, you could write a song a mile. |

yeah, every Galaxie 500 album, and also Slowdive and Spaceman 3 were really great too.

Boris most definitely - their stuff is awesome. (Homer you may fall in love with their guitarist too as an added bonus). Though Pink has definite rock moments to it, more so than their other albums

not true shoegrazing, but their last record (panoptican) definitely has the feel to it....

i have the Asobi Seksu album (obtained through emusic after reading a good review) and it has yet to grow on me, but has lots of potential.

All the reviewers seems to be on about Asobi Seksu and Boris. Boris is some heavy shit, so if you like that, I think you'll dig their latest, "Pink". I haven't heard teh Asobi Seksu.

There's definitely been a revival of interest in shoegazing at the mo, it's all good. If anything appeals to me it's the bands focus on the music (for the most part), rather than concern about image, pretty refreshing these days, no? Plus, I love that the music is all swirly and shimmery and layered.
You might want to try marsneedsguitars.com - it's one of my favourite blogs and he posts a lot of shoegazer kind of stuff, newer and older.
Newer bands - try Asobi Seksu or M83.

Fleeting Joys are all the rage at the moment, they have a myspace page I think , their album is basically Loveless v.2 but that's no bad thing. |
