feel silly for starting another movie thread, but this one didn't seem to fit with the others. it was so funny (a lot of it was dark humor which is my favorite kind)!!! has anyone else seen it???

hi shine, i finally saw it. I just got done watching it and wanted to let you know that I thought it was very cool.

anyway, if I don't talk to you before then, I hope you have a good trip! sounds like a lot of fun!
Daisy Girl Posted - 05/03/2009 : 08:17:26
haha shine, hopefully I can check it next weekend if work isn't too busy.
TarTar Posted - 05/02/2009 : 15:07:16
I didn't think much of this movie when I first watched it, I thought it was funny at times but overall a bit too formulaic. I was watching some of it on TV again recently and actually liked it a bit more.

recently saw "sunshine cleaning" from the same makers of "little miss sunshine" - if you enjoyed LMS you will like SC.

I just watched it and enjoyed it quite a bit. Dark comedy wasn't quite what I had in mind when I went to see it but it was still enjoyable. A good message and I definitely agree with Daisy that the van is a character. I probably laughed as hard at that as anything or anyone. I like how they all came together when it got tough, whether it was the van or the body or the pagent or even getting there. The scene at the hospital did sort of feel a little out of place at the time but in retrospect, that was the turning point for the family - they all put their own little things aside and came together. The van just underscored that again and again, that these people were in the pagent that is life together.

And that little girl is priceless.

According to Steve Carell it's the "Greatest movie in the history of Earth", or something along those lines.

Daisy Girl Posted - 08/20/2006 : 10:05:19
yea, it was really cool. i really liked how they had a cover band. i thought it was so cool that they opened with stormy weather. i think a lot of the crowd was like... what is this song?? lol. but the coverband was really good and the whole movie was really good. anyway, i am glad that you made it. ;) next time we will have to meet up finally or something.

I'm just reading this now. I hope you made it to Bryant Lake Bowl and saw the show. I did. It was too good to only see once. Still haven't seen Little Miss Sunshine. :(

I saw it today and enjoyed it, although I thought it could have been better. The whole sequence with the body derailed it a bit.

I am a Steve Carell fan and enjoyed seeing him in a restrained, fairly dramatic role. And I always like watching Toni Collette.

:) one of my favorite scenses was one of the last scene, i thought i was just going to loose it.

I saw this last night and it is hilarious. I have to admit I was giggling like a schoolgirl at Steve Carell throughout all of his scenes based on my own dealings with depression, suicide, and hospitalization for failed attempts. It was terrifically well made. If your family isn't dysfunctional, well then your family isn't normal.

I live in Minneapolis now, actually. I wouldn't trust myself at First Ave anytime soon, or at a really funny movie. However, I will be going to the Riverview Theatre tomorrow to see loudQUIETloud.

I'm considering sneaking my way down to Omaha next weekend to see him play solo, if the venue is safe enough. I should be recovered by November, or at least have all my bones healed. PT will take several months past that, but at least I won't break if I get bumped into (if things keep going well).

awww..... I thought you were all better :( how can you take it??? man, that really sucks. well, the good thing that you have to look forward to is this crazy laugh fest when you can watch all the arrested developments, south parks and funny movies over a couple of weeks... I guess the one light in the tunnel is that the songs off of FMRM are pretty serious, so at least you can listen to that.

hope you feel better soon. *hugs* *extra hugs* *extra extra hugs*

when are all your treatments going to be done? do you think you can see fb in Nov?
prozacrat Posted - 08/16/2006 : 20:18:21
Yeah. They just took a bone graft from my hip and it hurts a lot when I sneeze or laugh. I have to wait to finish watching season three of Arrested Development because it was too painful. The only things safe for me to watch on TV are the Weather Channel and Comedy Central's Drawn Together.

:( i could personal message you and give away part of the funniest scene so you could go see it ;) is it because of the accident that you can't go? :(

My friends are trying to get me to leave the housevon Thursday to see that movie, but if it's as funny as you say it is, I don't think I can go.

There was a Mr. Men and Little Miss DVD free with last week's Sunday Times.

...And, thus, the topic continues too go off the rails!

mr.biscuitdoughhead Posted - 08/16/2006 : 15:30:43

No wait, Mr. Bump was the coolest. Mr. Nosey is alright, though. Sorry if it's big, too.

And I used to sometimes try to catch her, but never even caught her name...
mr.biscuitdoughhead Posted - 08/16/2006 : 15:25:15
Ha! I used to read those books.
Mr. Nosey is still the coolest.

[EDIT]Sorry about the size. Wow, that's big.
