Hey guys, mostly Simon, have any of you seen the Star Wars: Clone Wars cartoon series? I read that it was pretty good but it's one thing to read and quite another to hear it from someone. The reason I ask is that they just put the show on iTunes and I'm thinking about downloading them. Do I have to be a kid to like em or what?
I've actually never really bought videos from iTunes in the first place, so I don't really even know what to expect. Are they small iPod sized videos or can I watch them at a decent size. I don't have a video iPod so that's probably good to know too.

Yeah, Episode 2 is horrible, I'll agree with that. I think Ep. 1 got a harsher than deserved reception because people had unattainable expectations. Or were ready to write off all the good parts of the movie because of three lines that I admit should never have made it into a first draft:
1) "Exqueeze me"
2) "Yipee"
3) "What are midichlorians?"

I saw the first 2 Episodes recently and yeah, everyone bashed Episode I but the real borefest is Ep II. I can't even remember a single scene from that movie.

I was thinking the same when watched Episode 1 recently; there are some fine scenes, particularly the Obi Wan/Qui Gon relationship, and even Jar Jar doesn't annoy me too much, at least not as much as Anakin, who is just awful. |

Ep. 3 was awesome, I don't care what anyone says. And if you start Phantom Menace right when the Gungans come out of the swamp and play from there, maybe with a few choice scenes like the Jedi escaping the ship to planetfall, rescuing Amidala, heading to Tatooine, meeting Anakin/the podrace, off to Coruscant (and then all the Coruscant scenes ending with Palpatine's barely visible smile just as the camera wipes) and actually probably everything from then on... whew... then it's an excellent movie. Plus the swordfighting in Phantom Menace is unrivaled by anything else in ANY of the other movies.

They're far better than any of the prequel films. The Jedi see far more action as well. |

Rubbish? Blah! That is damned skullduggery! These cartoons are more Star Wars then the prequels were!
The first disc suffers from the fact that each of the 20 episodes were only three minutes a piece, but some of them are truly excellent, with a focus on SW action. Black Hawk Down with stormtroopers, Obi-Wan jousting on speederbikes, Mace fighting a thousand battledrouids, a gladiator battle with a sith witch, and an excellent lightsaber battle between Anakin and said witch in the rain on the planet, Yavin IV, where the rebels had their base in ANH. The second disc had 5 twelve minute episodes, so they did more story, and basically animate ROTS' opening crawl. With the exception of Anakin's knighting, the oni-wan/anakin stuff is a little week, but the space/city battle and Shaaki Ti (red female jedi with elaborate head-dress or white horns) protecting Palpatine from Grevious is incedible. Buy the suckers and enjoy.

Clone Wars is indeed rubbish.
I have high expectations about the live tv show in the making though. |

I haven't even heard of this series, I didn't even see the final film. I used to like Droids and Ewoks though, so you never know.

I _think_ that Clone Wars is where General Grievous was supposed to have come from, so they fall between Ep. 2 and 3.

They were all over YTV a few years ago, a couple of years before the movie.
I wasn't sure what to make of them at the time and I think I've noticed them once on TV since. I remember they were cut into little tiny bits and that I thought they would be better as a movie.
The animation was very much like the Transformers from Saturday mornings (like you remember when I was 8).
I didn't watch them enough to tell you if they flush out the movie but they did show a shaggy Jedi and more of the blue lady. |

I'm sure there's a juicey illegal version of it hovering around the net somewhere.
I don't know if this is what is on itunes, but it looks like some of the episodes divided up into 10min clips
(it appears to be "volume 2" so maye you should wait to see voulme 1)

Ooh, actually I didn't even realize you could do it per episode, I thought you had to buy the season (which is $10.99). But right there, all the episodes or 'chapters'. Yeah, I'm an idiot. $2/episode. For $2 I guess I can afford to experiment.

Just out of interest, how much is it per episode?
I presume that you should be able to watch them in a bigger size on your computer. Why would they torture people by having it at ipod screen-size
