Posted - 07/20/2006 : 12:14:16 I suck at titles. What I meant is: have you ever had an album that was overall terrible, but at least 1 good song? If so, list the songs on the album you thought were good. I can think of a few:
Full Collapse - Thursday: I think Paris In Flames was the good song.
First Impressions Of Earth - The Strokes: A few good ones, Razorblade, You Only Live Once, and Juicebox
Transatlantacism - DCfC: Sound Of Settling, Expo '86, and Death Of An Interior Decorator
I think there was another album, I just can't remember what it was.

Posted - 07/22/2006 : 15:56:29 Even if was on crack, then stopped taking crack, and listened to it again, i'd feel the same way. In fact, crack might actually make it easier to listen to it. (Whilst i hit my hand with a hammer) Okay, maybe the hammer thing was a bit too far, even for me.

You're on crack.
"Tainted Love" is probably the weakest track on the album. "Frustration" alone kicks it's Top 40 arse.

Bossanova - Pixies, I love Dig For Fire - it's my favouritw song of all time - but apart from Cecilia Ann and The Happening, I don't think it's that great an album

Posted - 07/22/2006 : 11:20:19 My disillusionment was: "Tainted love, that's good 80's tune. Wow AMG gave the album Maybe all the songs are as good as tainted love. NO!!
"Run my little sex dwarf, I feel so lonely Get my little camera, take a pretty picture Sex dwarf, in a gold Rolls, making it with the dumb chauffer"
ARGH! It's a million times worse when you hear it being sung.

Posted - 07/22/2006 : 11:06:35 I think Tainted Love is the only Soft Cell song I've heard. Have you heard that new song S.O.S. or something? It has the exact same music. Do you beleive a rap used Crazy Train as a background??

I'd put Morrissey's You Are The Quarry in this one. It's a whiny, irritating album but with a couple of great songs: First Of The Gang To Die is excellent, and Irish Blood, English Heart ain't bad.

I was about to say the same thing, 'cept I don't like The Gang To Die. Irish Blood is great though, love the Bond guitar riff.

Posted - 07/22/2006 : 01:48:50 Many albums are like this. I couldn't begin to name them all, but I will throw in two cents for one album:
Ramones - Adios Amigos! (1995)
The last two songs are absolutely fantastic, totally indicative of all the Ramones' high points and far more passionate than you'd expect from a band whose apex was 19 years prior. The other songs aren't very good, though. The great last 2 songs do not represent the overall lackluster-ness of the album.
And I could probably say the same thing about Cult of Ray. The title track reigns over most of the other tracks on that album. |
