Posted - 07/25/2006 : 23:12:02 I dislike most Muse. It's kind of a shame. They have such cool-sounding basses, falsetto vocals (the distorted G6 on "Micro-cuts" is something truly interesting to hear), and guitars; I could only wish that the band didn't waste good timbres on bad melodies.
From what I've heard of BHAR, Muse isn't getting any better.

Posted - 07/19/2006 : 10:24:12 It's an amazing album. Knights Of Cydonia is epic.
Lead me not into temptation; I can find the way myself. |

Posted - 07/19/2006 : 08:49:27 There are about 3 songs that have Queenie vocals. And I think part of "Knights of Cydonia" sounds similar to the breakout rocking part in "Bohemian Rhapsody." It's almost the same rhythm and beats per minute. Nifty. |

Posted - 07/18/2006 : 21:22:45 I'm actually listening to it right now. The first 4 songs are kick arse!! Track 3 has this dance rhythm to it, which I think is a new thing for Muse. I don't mean to make this comparison, but they have some layered harmonies/vocals that scream of Queen. (i.e. - Soldier's Poem). The first four songs are in your face awesome, and then it slows down with tracks 5 and 6. I think it's weird that the song before "Invincible" is called "Soldier's Poem," because "Invincible" has this marching 'soldier' snare drum beat in the first 2 minutes. Of course it deviates from that eventually. And holy crap that simple piano part in "Starlight" is catchy and beautiful. Well that's a first 6 tracks review from me.

Posted - 07/18/2006 : 15:15:31 Or supermassive black hole which is the one that is doing the rounds here at the moment. I like Muse, I've seen them a couple of times and they were great. Once in an instore acoustic with an audience of about twenty and once at manchester apollo which was really pretty impressive. Big noise. Big big noise.
I haven't heard anything much from the new album asides supermassive black hole and thanks to a suitcase getting stolen from a train a couple of years ago the only album I have is the first one. I seem to have a pile of signed singles though, I think they were mostly gifts. |

Posted - 07/18/2006 : 14:51:40 Homer I think you are referring to the track The Knights of Cydonia, which sounds like a Sergio Leoni space-western epic...Ennio Morricone meets Tron.
