Posted - 06/06/2006 : 06:20:25 freecycle is like it suggests, the recycling of free stuff. Basically you join a local group and if you have something you don't need anymore you put it on there and give it away to someone worthy. Likewise, if you want something you have a browse and can pick up something for free. The whole point is that it's free. The corny line for the site reads:
changing the world one gift at a time
but there have been a few sweet stories, like the mother who got a free car to take her kids to school.
I've been browsing the London freecycle and so far have been tempted by wicker baskets- picnic-y.

Posted - 06/06/2006 : 11:51:13 I'm a member of my local freecycle, but haven't really done much with it yet. But i check it a few times a day, just to see what's up there.

Posted - 06/06/2006 : 09:25:04 We've gotten rid of a fair amount of stuff on our local freecycle. Most people have been quick, but a few flakes keep saying they're coming by to pick up the stuff and never do. Plus, the board starts to get filled with requests for items which misses the point. |
