Those of you who think the first Elastica album was an ultrarare gift to pop-rock fans everywhere may be interested to know that this is, at least in my experience, the bootleg that best captures that energy live: http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=85489

Ms. Frischmann & co. are on it, as they must have been all that year, though rarely recorded so effectively as here. BTW, eleven years on, and with awareness of Justine's subterranean heroin addiction, has anybody heard anything from her lately? Pity that she apparently spent the remainder of her twenties in a cave, but I for one would embrace expression of ANYTHING that she learned.

Life is something that matter does.

I don't get it...she used to work in your office?! Or visited it?!

The band used to come to our office - I shared space with the guy who did their sleeves for them. I did dabble a bit with their stuff too but not enough to put on a CV!

It is an intense disc, not to be cued lightly.

I danced to them tonight. Oh such joy!

I had a piece of Justine's used chewing gum that I saved from out of our office bin. I sent it to a friend, I wonder if he still has it! That was before ebay - had it been around then I would have definitely put it up on there! :)

Despite some obvious similarities to other songs I thought Elastica were quite good but they suffered from NME and Melody Maker 'pet' band syndrome, which I think to some extent they embraced - which is never a good idea.

Tis rumoured that he did. It is a fantastic album mind.

I never knew that. Though it is only rumours. He should have kept them for Blur, it's a better album than any of theirs. Or Gorillaz.

Now, now BLT.

No. Wire and The Stranglers wrote their songs.

Does anyone remember laughter?

That album is fantastic though. I love it.

I love their debut, really do, but as the years have gone on it is so apparant that they were just the precursor to the gorillaz, and instead of using faceless cartoons damon used his then legendary girlfriend.
