Posted - 05/04/2006 : 02:13:27 Last saturday I bought Rancid's "And Out Come The Wolves". It's fun. "Time Bomb" gave me a nostalgia kick, it was played quite a bit upon its release when I was in high school. Uh... not much to add, but I thought I'd talk about every purchase I did on saturday...

Posted - 05/05/2006 : 17:36:41 I always really liked the song on "...And Out Come the Wolves" about Operation Ivy.... "Journey to the end of East Bay" I think. There was a time when every bassist I knew would play that bassline all the time. Anyone else heard the other band that came out of Operation Ivy, Common Rider? I tend to prefer them actually. I liked Life Won't Wait quite a bit but it was pretty much downhill after that for me.

Did like it quite a bit when it was released, though. I remember it was getting great reviews.

Posted - 05/04/2006 : 19:49:22 Rancid is not a good band. A few good pop melodies will show up du temps en temps on a Rancid album (i.e. "Travis Bickle" was always a guilty pleasure of mine), but I hate their stupid punk attitude; it's totally over the top.
Now, if you want a GOOD contemporary punk band, check out DILLINGER FOUR. |

Posted - 05/04/2006 : 03:51:30 I'm none too familiar with Rancid, but I always though Time Bomb was a bit too much of a Clash doing reggae pastiche, which I'd probably like better if it was tongue-in-cheek, although it is actually not a bad song. Spaeaking of album purchases, something liek the last four CDs I bought I haven't even listened to yet.
