Alida Valli, one of the stars of The third man, died last week, and that's the reason why this documentary was broadcasted again on dutch television.
The documentary shows us the places in Vienna where the film was shot, interviews with Carol Reeds biographer, a guide from Vienna (in German) and Carol Reeds assistant (in German). Part of the broadcast is in dutch or german, so you won't be able to understand everything, but despite all that it's a must-see for people who enjoyed this classic movie.
"Don't be so gloomy. After all it's not that awful. Like the fella says, in Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love - they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock. So long Holly."
