It's a comedy drama set in 1986, about a couple separating and the effect it has on their two sons. Very witty and sharp, it kind of made me think of The Royal Tenenbaums or something, only done a bit more realistic. Some painfully true moments, and it's a bit moving in places. Great cast includes Laura Linney, Jeff Daniels, Anna Paquin and William Baldwin. Recommended for sure. |

Posted - 04/26/2006 : 07:30:17 I enjoyed this movie a lot, and as stated, it is basically like a Wes Anderson movie done for real, almost like Batman Begins was a "real" version of a comic book movie.
and you are ill prepared to fight living in a world of soft and white in air conditioned battle zones I pity you!

Posted - 04/25/2006 : 23:28:31 i posted about this in that one other thread that was here a while ago about the movies. i didn't like it as much as you, but i like Noah Baumbach's earlier work (KICKING AND SCREAMING, MR JEALOUSY)
he co-wrote LIFE AQUATIC with Wes Anderson, who co-wrote all his previous films with Owen Wilson. i have a personal theory that Owen Wilson's writing input is what makes Wes Andersons good movies so good. i see that Baumbach is directing a movie with Jack Black. that guy is in movies like it's going out of style
