It sounds as self-explanatory as it atually is.

where did you think of the idea for your username?, obiously some of them are more obvious than others such as mine.but maybe theres a story behind it.If so prey-tell:

and please no smart arse comments meant to demean others.

I wrote a song with my old band called 'the one contender'. Just a nonsensical/shitty lyric.

Ha. Surprised you still remember that. I still see that every time.

I may or may not have been bbf at one point, pre fb.net

I was just thinking I like the name hammerhands and wondered about its origin. I imagine some Mario Bros type Canuck lumberjack type character smashing pesky termites with his hammer hands. So I searched a half-remembered term, "username", and the thread popped right up, took two seconds.

I love when old threads like this come back up to the top...but how do you find them? Do people scroll down 50 pages of topics until they see something that could be revived? Or did you actually remember this thread, tro?

We'd all love a treatise on the origin of pot's username.

well, carl once tried to explain mine in a pretty clever way, but you'd need to speak french to understand... he basically guessed that my last name had to be Carbonneau because, when you literaly translate the sounds into english, it means Carbon water... and that means soda...

I'd like to say he was right, but not really, in fact not at all. My explanation is pretty inane. It just popped in my head one day when I was getting out of the schoolbus.. and I thought it was weird, because it's kinda rare a logic statement brings you to the conclusion "soda". also, I like it because I'm not sure just what I intend to mean with it.

My former (johndietzel) is a buddy's name. I figured since I was trying to stay superficially anonymous, it was kind of rude to use someone else's less-than-common real name.

I chose mine cos when he sings it, it's so unexpected but then he follows it with 'Don't you understand?' and you do. Usually my impulse choices suck but I'm not gonna regret this one. Plus I got to make up neat shit for my profile.

Superabounder Posted - 03/11/2007 : 15:47:15
Mine is obvious of course. I once indignantly sent an email to the moderators because someone else had posted with a name very close to mine, like Superabound, and I asked them how could they allow someone to get almost the same name as mine. As it turned out, that guy had joined before I did, so I was the jerk.

Crispy Water Posted - 03/11/2007 : 12:58:24
I had an old account years ago but lost the password. When I signed back up my thinking was that I wanted to choose two words that are never sighted together. About a year ago I stumbled upon a link that led me to http://www.crispywater.com/ and my life was ruined. I would love to know how long that company has been in business and where they got the name from, because I can't figure out what the hell such a name has to do with the products they sell.

A subsequent google search also taught me to never again disregard the boundless possiblities when describing a word so widespread as "water." I should have picked crispy molecules or something.

Ok i cant remember his name... Adam? but anyway he is a wonderful actor. I have heard he is great on Broadway. I recently seen Titus and he starred in that movie. Good movie. I like the odd stuff. I am an English major and we were studying Shakespeare's Titus Andronicus.

Jefrey Posted - 03/10/2007 : 01:21:15
My name is Jeff, but with 2 f's. But in college my girlfriend's roommates called me "Jefrey with one F", and cause Trompe Le Monde had come out that year. D = R x T.

However, now I think it pretty much sucks and I wish I could change it.

I go by "jeffamerica" everywhere else. Once upon a time, before president George W. Bush, America wasn't such a bad thing. I'm going to stand my ground and hope we become liked again by the world and my stage name won't be a negative any more.

I badly wanted to be Billy Radcliffe on here when I was signing up, but I saw that it was already taken. Momentarily, I was ready to pay a hit man to take out the really Billy Radcliffe so I could take his name. But I'm too cheap, so I went with another FB song that I was loving at the moment. In hindsight, there are a million other names I'd have liked better -- including using my first name, Cohen -- but this one has served me well enough.

I'm still wondering about floop, though. Where's that come from? That's a good one. My favorite ever, though, was when Gary Green (he of "That Burnt Out Rock and Roll") showed up and made ONE post, under the name Johnny Cash.

Please pardon me, for these my wrongs.
jackruby Posted - 03/09/2007 : 13:10:17
Jack Ruby is a very interesting character from a Camper Van Beethoven song. I would have picked something Frank related, but I was so heart-broken to find that Jefrey was already taken.

i'm sorry for breaking all your hearts, guys. but now that i think about it, that song idea of mine was possibly inspired by "I Switched You". so there's a happy ending after all.

That's quite cool. I should peruse the dictionary more. Hey, it's how Pixies got their name too.

I was flipping through the dictionary for some forgotten term when I happened on "Erebus", definition one: "a personification of darkness in Greek mythology". Yep, sounds like me, I thought, and you know the rest.
