All right:

Listen to "Talk" from Coldplay's 2005 album X & Y.

Then Listen to "Computer Love" from Kraftwerk's 1981 album Computer World.

SAME EXACT MELODY.

This is ridiculous. My brother pointed this insanely obvious act of plagiarism out to me. Now, I feel obligated to share the knowledge.

Coldplay are dull, moaning blandness. Yes, they have some good tunes...some nice riffs, dragged out to song length.

That is all. :)

sorry but this is like saying... zomg, heard theme from narc by the pixies? sounds exactly like the theme from that game narc!

Yeah, that's true. Sorry about that.It wasn't until AFTER I had posted this topic in a fit of rage that I learned the guy from Coldplay asked Kraftwerk if he could use their sample, to which Kratwerk said yes. I would have deleted this topic, but I can't now because it has 15 replies.

Nevertheless, I'm still not a fan of Coldplay.

"Being influenced" and "ripping off a specific part of a song" are 2 very different things..

what the hell doog.... for someone who makes music HEAVILY influenced by bands such as the pixies, i don't think you should be criticising a band for sounding a bit like someone else...

I have no doubt that Coldplay would be a much better band if they were'nt so successful. How about Weezer ripping off their own work? They re-wrote Undone-The Sweater Song and called it Beverly Hills. It's no coincedence that Beverly Hills is their worst song ever, AND was the 2nd most downloaded song on itunes in 2005. Apparently, the mainstream radio audience will eat whatever they are fed.

That's exactly how Liz Phair broke my heart.

No-one picked up on this one yet?

Or this one?

Okay, I made the slightest of pitch/speed alterations to make em fit perfectly, but they really were very minor changes. Coldplay blow.

At least your brother recognised the Kraftwerk, many of their fans over here wouldn't. I don't think CD:UK acknowledges such facts.

the flaming lips actually had to fork out a fortune for that one I believe

I tried doing that once, making every minute count. It gave me a headache.

"Coldplay Sucks a Fecasular Discharge" - i want this on a t-shirt!

What homers said. They never hid the fact they ripped it off but they do hide the fact they suck. But I see straight through them like a window.
Homers_pet_monkey Posted - 04/16/2006 : 03:17:59
They sample the song apparently, that's why.

What's Fight Test taken from?

Haha, you're totally right. Just as bad as The Flaming Lips' "Fight Test".
