I say definitely Stephen Colbert.
I've liked him since "Strangers w/ Candy" and I think he was always the best thing about "The Daily Show".
Jon was OK on "Larry Sanders" and sometimes he's funny on "TDS" but it seems like it's mostly predictable Bush jokes, with the same delivery, voices, and faces. Like he's more concerned about criticizing Bush (which I have no problem with) than being funny.
"The Colbert Report" is funny from beginning to end. And I love the eagle, especially when it's flying straight ahead with its beak open.
I think it's 100 times better than "The Daily Show" and if it gets cancelled I'll give up on TV forever.

Love Colbert's new Easter Under Attack graphic with the crypt and the stone and Jesus w/ a gun. And I'll never get tired of that eagle at the beginning.

Tough call...i think overall i prefer Steward, but Colbert is fantastic.
It's hard to remember he's playing a character sometimes, and it becomes a bit grating....but i love it.

I find "The Colbert Report" to be funnier than "The Daily Show." I think the fact that Colbert is playing a character lets him get away with more. I haven't really seen much of either of them outside the fake news context, though, so I'm not sure who I necessarily like better overall.

Steve Colbert is great, but i'd go with Stewart any day. While Colbert's fake news gimmick is perfected with that pseudo-news reporter voice of his...Jon gives you the humor creativity and throws his intelligence into it all.
either way, it's a great HOUR of television for most of the week. |
