I think we've tried this before but I can't remember where, so: basically the idea is recommend an artist to fans of another artist.

For example, I know there are some Sufjan Stevens fans on here (I'm looking at you, Brian), and I'd like to recommend the new Drowsy album on Fat Cat, because I think it would be appreciated by those who liked Mr S's first album in particular. It's perhaps even starker, instrumentationally (did I just make up a word?), and with interesting vocals - the guy is Finnish, it adds a curious inflection. It'll be out soon, and I recommend giving it a listen.

Label site: http://fat-cat.co.uk/fatcat/artistInfo.php?id=46

I can't find a website, or any downloadable songs, but there's a few days left on the yousendit link on my blog, so see here: http://youcancallmebetty.blogspot.com/2006/02/looks-like-rein-deer.html#links

If you like this forum, you'll probably like Frank Black. Also hitting yourself repeatedly in the head with blunt objects.

Heh, the Tin Angel (the Philadelphia venue where I saw Laura Cantrell a few weeks ago) has a lot of posters and photographs hanging along the stairs. I noticed that one thing up there was an old, torn Ellis Hooks poster.

Anyway, if you like Black Francis, you might like Frank Black. But I make no guarantees.

funny stuff. You guys may have heard of pandora.com which attempts to do what this thread is attempting to do. You tell it who you like and it creates a 'radio station' that plays songs by that artist and 'similar' artists that you may like. Good idea, still needs improvement. I recommend giving it a spin. www.pandora.com
