I bought myself roses and chocolates. I hate when I'm so boringly traditional.

"Cactus" - The Pixies. Okay, this one is more of a longing song than a true love song. But some of those images are just so strong and Black Francis's wail is very compelling.

I got a Valentines card last year, or maybe the year before. She'd just made it from a piece of paper and drawn a guitar on it (since she knew I played the guitar). It said something like "To my strumming Valentine", which was nice. Awwwww.

Deliver all the love you want.
My heart is defective, and its past the 90 day warranty. So I’m stuck with it.

If I get drunk tonight, Se(accent)an, I'll love you. I think we're buying two bottles of wine tonight -- red for me and white for Mrs. Coastline. If you're online in about 6 hours, which I seriously doubt will be the case, I'll deliver some love in the drunk thread.

Please pardon me, for these my wrongs.

It was funny I got accosted by a woman in the hallway asking me where my red or pink was. I told her I forgot. She stood there in disbelief.

You are expected to wear red or pink in the US?

You guys really are weird!

I'd walk her everyday, into a shady place

It's a social norm for the women. It's becoming more of one for guys (mostly they wear burgandy). This is not the case in the UK?

Hell no!

(I don't think)

that's cool

I got an anonymous handmade Valentine's card in school once, which I've held onto. I was so chuffed!

No, I was just talking about my personal case. Mrs Denis has been stuck at home for the whole week with 2 sick kids, so I didn't expect her to get me anything, and frankly I didn't mind at all.

I was stumped for awhile on what to get Mike. Flowers and chocolate seem silly. And its not like its his birthday or Christmas to get some sort of gift that has nothing to do with v day. I've already bought lingerie for the last few v days so more seemed kind of unthoughtful (I'm sure he wouldn't think so...). But he did like what I got him so all's well.

It's not that obvious.
I didn't get anything but I did find time to go buy some flowers. And I took the afternoon off... that I spent at the doctor with my daughter.

What are you supposed to get guys for V day?

It's a My Bloody Valentine reference to Debbie Googe or literary reference to Barnabe Googe (16th century poet, best known for the line "I did but see her passing by, and yet I love her till I die"). Works on a couple of levels.

here's some nsfw youtube valentines silliness that will probably best be appreciated by the english types here (and yes I know I'm a day late with this stuff, but I've been busy)

I was thinking tonight that this was my best Valentine's Day in literally two decades because it's the first one when I am not married to my ex. Yesssssss!

Happy Valentine's Day, everybody.

Be careful with those girlfriends/wives (boyfriends/husbands as well I suppose) who say they don't care about V-Day. They may be laying a trap to see if you'll do big things because you WANT to rather than you HAVE to.
Homers_pet_monkey Posted - 02/14/2007 : 09:33:38
I love having a girlfriend that doesn't care for it either. It's even better than floop's girlfriend having her birthday on Valentine's Day.
