I have a few, but here’s one to start off with..
Frank Black - The Cult of Ray (just a non-descript bad album)
Not trying to be controversial... so let’s move quickly on!! Anybody else got any....???

Posted - 02/02/2006 : 00:47:52 Re Posies: I'd say the new one is pretty good, at least the 7 songs that I've heard of it in concert. The best one is Frosting on the Beater, a pure classic.
Albums that don't really do it for me: - Pet Sounds. I love the Beach Boys to death, but this one wouldn't be in my top 5 of BB albums. Give me Sunflower, Friends, Summer Days, Today, All summer long, etc... - Is this it (Strokes). liked the singles, bought the cd, didn't like it at all. Only Hard to explain sounds still pretty good to me. I've never followed a hype since (well, except for Arcade Fire, who are okay) - Marquee Moon (Television). really, what's the deal with this album? The title track and Torn Curtain have something going, the rest is so-so. Don't like it more or less than their second album Adventure. - Horses (Patti Smith). Most overrated "classic" ever. Being responsible for the likes of Tori Amos, Courtney Love and Alanis Morrissette doesn't help either to gain my appreciation. - Back in Black (AC/DC). I do like my portion of mainstream 70's hard rock, but this one's just boring. How anyone can seriously believe this album is better than "Let there be rock" or even Van Halen's debut is beyond me. The title track and "You shook me all night long" are great, but they only show how mediocre the rest is. |

As for the Posies, I love "Failure," their first album. Their later albums tend to have a mixture of really great songs and totally forgettable ones. I'd say the new one is definitely their worst, although I do like the song "Conversations."

Are they better than that? I bought it having heard nothing by them, and I wasn't impressed at all. It's rubbish.

Also, I haven't been able to get into anything Blur has released since their self-titled album, and even that is rather hit-or-miss. Oh, and April March's newest one, "Triggers," isn't very good either.
