That's odd because I don't think many 80's obsessed bands have been included in people's votes so far.

Simon, look at all those commas!

Will try to Mikey, but only because you said so you understand.

[edit] NME also push a lot of fleeting shite as well though.

NME like an awful lot of good bands

The fact that you're easily influenced by NME's endorsement doesn't make you much better than those who bum every band NME hype..

Cheeseman1000 Posted - 11/28/2005 : 06:57:24
I don't not love the band.

To be fair, NME endorsement would put me right off a band, usually, so if I do like them, thats, like, going against the grain, man.

Fair enough. So long as you don't love the band.

By the way, you and Tre try and meet up with Dean when he gets back to London. He's a really nice lad.

Why did you put the Ordinary Boys then? They are an NME band.

You are very defensive on this one Simon.

There's a part of me that is ashamed, is why. Like last year, my single of the year was Natasha Bedingfield's 'These Words'. Try as I might, I couldn't shift it, so I embraced it. I don't neccessarily want to like the Ordinary Boys, they are as you say, quite an NME band, yet, that's one irresistable single.
I'm not putting it as any sort of statement, I just like the song is all.

Have you posted your nominations? I'm happy to stand by my choices as the non-fashionista, non-Top-Shop-belt vote. I shudder to think what you're going to put.

Really? Am I the complaining guy of the forum? I thought I was quite the nice guy. Oh well, who cares, this thread sucks anyway.

Artist Of The Year
The Arcade Fire
Although their album was officially released in September last year, it didn't really strike a chord with most people until around March of this year. I hope that's justified them! If not, their remastered EP was good also. That came out this year.

Album Of The Year
You Could Have It So Much Better...with Franz Ferdinand
I really really enjoyed this album. Admittedly I've worn it a little down now, but it was either this or CYHSY....

Live Act Of The Year
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah
I think part of this choice was the anticipation of this band coming to London. I very much enjoyed their live show on Tuesday. Very honourable mention to the Concretes and to Andrew Bird.

Single Of The Year
Neighbourhood #2 (Laika) - The Arcade Fire
The perfect single. Brilliant artwork. Excellent b-side.

Event Of The Year
1980 Forward - 25 Years of 4AD
...mainly because I love 4AD.

Sexiest Male
Alex Kapranos - Frunz Fardinend
Sorry.

Sexiest Female
Eleanor Friedberger - Fiery Furances
Also for 2004 (and probably 2006), she gets my vote.

Cool! Although I think it's a bit early. I haven't bought every 2005 album I want yet.

I can already submit my top concerts, seeing as I don't plan to see any more this year:

1) Underground Resistance @ Cabaret Sauvage, Paris, 11/19
2) Daniel Johnston @ Café de la Danse, Paris, 06/05
3) Pixies @ Rock en Seine Festival, Paris, 08/25
4) Smog @ Maroquinerie, Paris, 06/24
