I know some of you have dreamed about it, but couldn't gather enough courage to start this thread. Now here it is.

So please post a picture of Morrissey (preferably half naked) and tell us how you like him.

I will show you fear in a handful of dust

Morrissey: "Why become part of The Smiths?"

Artists: The Smiths, Morrissey

Don't be animal testin' on his watch, yo...

Morrissey - the first of the gang to die, no less - has reiterated his absolute refusal to ever reunite The Smiths.

In something of a non-story (sorry), the singer said:

"I'm not placed on the Earth to torment ex-musicians. My life is gratifying at the moment musically, so why become part of The Smiths again? What's the point? I feel as if I've worked very hard since the demise of The Smiths and the others haven't, so why hand them attention that they haven't earned? We are not friends, we don't see each other. Why on earth would we be on a stage together?"

Recent reports had revealed that he was offered money in the region of £5m to get the group back together.

DiScuss: Since we're quite obviously living in an age of reunions - see the Pixies, Take That, et cetera - would Morrissey not be wise to grab a little cash for his retirement fund?

Morrissey in talks for Eurovision

Former Smiths singer Morrissey could represent the UK at the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest, the BBC has confirmed.

The Mancunian musician first expressed an interest in taking part after Daz Sampson's song, Teenage Life, came fifth from last in the 2006 contest.

"I was horrified but not surprised to see the UK fail," he said. "Why didn't they ask me?"

The BBC says it is in talks with the singer to write and possibly perform a track for this year's contest in May.

But a spokeswoman for the corporation warned "nothing is confirmed at the moment".

The BBC has approached several other high-profile acts as it tries to "up the ante on the calibre of artists" taking part in the annual competition, she added.

Devoted fans

Morrissey, 47, first found fame with indie group The Smiths, whose dark, brooding songs and social commentary on issues such as vegetarianism won a devoted following.

The band also released a series of acclaimed albums, including The Queen is Dead, which regularly feature in critics' all-time best lists.

They split up in 1987, after which Morrissey launched a successful solo career, scoring 10 top 10 singles in the UK.

He has been linked to the Eurovision song contest before, working with the UK's first winner, Sandie Shaw, in the 1980s.

Last year, the video for his You Have Killed Me single featured a pastiche of the kitsch Eurovision competitions of the 1970s.

However, to make it through to the real Eurovision, Morrissey would have to win the public's approval in the qualifying stages of the competition.

Former Blue singer Antony Costa and glamour model Jordan have seen their hopes dashed at this stage in previous years.

The winning entrant will compete against 23 other European nations in the final, which will be held in Helsinki after Finnish hard rock band Lordi won the contest in 2006.

Morrissey's hits include Girlfriend in a Coma and Suedehead

I think his new single is purely average.

Thank you, Simon! I needed some happy news today. I hope/trust you'll keep enjoying this album. I just image-googled the cover. An improvement over Quarry, don't you agree?

A reason to envy those of you on that side of the pond:

As in, he sounds whiny, still, hehe.
I quite like it, although I can't form an opinion on just one listen in an office environment. It's fairly rocking and pretty diverse as well, to the point of a childrens choir at one stage. Nothing's latched on to me like 'First Of The Gang To Die' did, but I don't read anything into that.

Basically, he's in good voice.

No, Simon, YOU have killed ME. This is thrilling! That's a great title, if not typical of Him. By "it seems pretty decent" you mean....what? Details, please!

P.S.

Ringleader Of The Tormentors. It has Le Moz playing a violin on the cover.
They played the lead single on the radio this morning, 'You Have Killed Me'.

I'm having a listen to an advance copy of the new Moz album at the mo. It seems pretty decent, I haven't really formulated an opinion yet.

Oh, Morrissey can play football, can he? So he obviously did'nt spent that many warm summer days indoors writing frightening verse to a buck-toothed girl in Luxembourg.

[EDIT]Okay, VoVoat, if we're gonna nitpick...

My gf used to say that all my vitriolic Morrissey comments meant that I was secretly in love with him. Now I'm making unconcious innuendos toward him.

I'm a little scared now.

Yes, I probably deserve a good smack too.

But it still wouldn't change the fact that Morrissey blows.

I really wanted to believe he isn't a bad guy. But anyone who sports a huge photo of themselves on the back of their jacket and t-shirt as well deserves a good smack.
