This is pretty awful. It's hit India, Afganistan and Pakistan and it's estimated that around 40,000 could have been killed. They're still pulling people out the wreakage, and the quake apparently knocked down the side of a mountain. In the past, there have been large-scale disaters in this area of Asia, where a lot of people have been killed, that have only merited small mentions in the western news media, probably because for the western world, Asia is such a far-away continent with a huge population, and this area is very poor and considered insignificant compared to our suppossedly more 'advanced' society. This has been such a big disaster that it's made headline news.
