Been meaning to start this one for weeks.

I like this guy. He posts a lot, not empty 'LOL' or '' lines like most of us do, but useful info and clever questions. Almost everything related to Frank and his music (from what I know, the guy is a damn Frankopedia), however he seems to not visit this section very much, and I respect it.

That's all. I don't know much about him, but I wanted to start a thread in his honour.

PS: Do you think it's a waste of bandwidth, Brian? If so, feel free to throw it to the garbage.

How do you know? Are they giving the sales numbers?

Eh, I was given a rough indication. Elsewhere I said that it had outsold every other FB and the Cs album already. As of 1 month ago CV had sold ROUGHLY 10,000 copies. They don't give exact numbers.

hey,

not to get personal, but who's your husband? If he's RT biggest fan I'm sure my dad knows him,
he's always on the RT-list just like I'm on this site. And he always goes to fanmeetings and stuff.

Get a room, you two!

Seriously, now: seeing the prolific and peripatetic Richard Thompson and the Pixies back-to-back at the Newport Folk Festival in August was a highlight of my concert-going, as he is one of my top favorite musicians and the only guy I've seen as many times as Frank and the Ramones. My husband (RT's biggest fan) and I kept joking on our way to Newport that we were going to see the Thompson twins. Of course, the moment the Pixies took the stage after Thompson all the folkies cleared out, giving plenty of room for the Charles Thompson fans to get close to the front. Jop, you are right about Mock Tudor. Such a great album.

both

My dad is a big Richard Thomspon fan, Ten Percenter. That's why I am a bit of a fan myself. Best guitarplayer in the world, given the fact that he can also sing and write, he's a virtuoso, but the most of the great guitarplayers around can't write a class-song like him

I am a fan too, as you might have gathered by now. Incidentally, only two albums released on Cooking Vinyl this year have outsold Honeycomb so far, one was Richard Thompson's latest. He has a very impressive fanbase.

never got into the latest Thompson though. I like his last Capitol record 'Mock Tudor' the best.

If there were a new Dutch band to come out called Yop Boodman & The Buttoms, with a fan club called "The Culf," I'd be first to send in my six euros.

actually
it's Jop
but you know, I hate when people pronounce the 'J' as Dzzzj
you don't do that in dutch. That's why I write it Yop sometimes.
And after I made that decision I heard that it was a famous Yoghurt in France and Belgium. I bought a plastic bottle of it last summer, it's pretty good.

If I recall correctly, Jop has fine taste. He likes Honeycomb and Richard Thompson!

You're the most unknown regular, so you deserve at least a thread per year.

Jop was the second forumer to welcome me and be nice to me when I was a newbie (the second being
my secret forum crush shiner). When some people were all "you're new, I've been here since the beginning, I am special, you are not,"
Jop was all about sharing the Frank love.

Seriously, you spend far too much of your precious time in the Frank Black sections,
nobody down here knows who you are
