Posted - 10/02/2005 : 07:50:21 Alright, so I've not topped up my iPod in 5 months and am though I did download a lot of advance albums so I know what to buy when I get home (most of which have now been released), I need to have some good new music to plunk on my iPod while I'm at my cousins. Critera...
One: Only one album (they have dialup!). Two: The WHOLE album should be great, front to back (they have dialup!) Three: I already have Honeycomb (and the new Franz and New Pornos). Four: Hopefully not a huge double album or anthology. Preferably a new band's debut unless there's been a terrific followup worthy of listen about anything else in the last 5 months (Decemberists' Picaresque, for example). Five: It should've come out from May to the future.
So if anyone has suggestions, I'm open to them. Please!

Posted - 10/04/2005 : 10:42:03 Snow Patrol aren't worth the time.
Also worth noting: The Rosebuds - Birds Make Good Neighbours Cass McCombs - Prefection (though this is cheating, it came out in February I think)

Posted - 10/04/2005 : 09:03:53 Good to know, Cap (Kirk), thanks for the heads up on the Clap. Also Ice Cream. And Jose. And Mike. And everyone. I have Ram (Sir Paul) on my iPod but somehow keep missing it when I look for something to listen to. I don't know why. Don't have Sufjan Stevens at all, but I met a girl a few months ago who was really into it and what I heard I liked, just forgot until now (thanks for the reminder).
I think I'm actually going to go to an inet cafe and get a cd full of music to try out. Thanks to that reminder of that girl's music, I also wanted to check out Snow Patrol and there are so many good suggestions here. Ack!

Posted - 10/04/2005 : 06:41:37 If you're going to purchase Sufjan Stevens and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah @ $1 a song, you'll need to weed out the fillers.
I mean, Sufjan has a track of "ooohs" & "ahhhs" also several tracks of skip-forward xylophones tunes.
Again, ClapYHSY has 4-5 "songs" that are hardly worth the money.

Posted - 10/03/2005 : 12:27:53 I heard the track "Not About Love" from the bootlegged new Fiona Apple, and it was excellent. But suggesting Fiona Apple is extremely risky territory. |

Posted - 10/02/2005 : 21:04:49 why not jump onto the cd swap #5 mix and download whatever's there at the moment. might be something good for ya there, and seeing as it comes from fellow fb.netters, you know it must be good.

Posted - 10/02/2005 : 14:33:29 You could try 'Everything Ecstatic' by Four Tet if you like a bit of electronic craziness, that's a good'un, or 'Repulsion Box' by Sons & Daughters, which is kind of dancey, kind of indie, pretty good. Other than that, there are more obvious recommendations such as 'I Am A Bird Now' by Anthony & The Johnsons, or the latest Low album, 'The Great Destroyer', which you should really already have, it being amazing and all.

Posted - 10/02/2005 : 13:47:28 Yup, got Bloc Party. I actually found some new tracks on Soulseek, but it's too slow here and I seem to get cancelled d/l ing via Soulseek. Didn't know there was a new BSS, but could definitely be persuaded into checking it out. We went all the way to Edmonton to see them once upon a time. Doog, the new EP will have to wait until I get back but I will check it when I get back, you have my word. Wolf Parade I've heard before and they were so-so at best, but I said the same thing about the Decemberists and love their latest so...

Posted - 10/02/2005 : 08:58:30 Eugh, the Subways are so very bad.
I guess you've already got the Futureheads album? I heard it on tour and thought it was pretty spiffy. One of the few bands the UK music press champion who actually have any substance.
