This is pretty common actually, and lots of times they are scams from Nigeria, from what I've been told. The Lexus dealership where I work has had a nigerian scam tried upon us for years where they try to get us to provide our account information so they can wire the money to our account for a new Lexus and actually are attempting to steal money from us. Apparently it worked at some dealerships in the last five years.
