I'd try to avoid hitting it too. Some don't even pick them out of the road after driving over them! That makes me so angry.

There was a little kittie yesterday in the middle of the highway when I was on my way for a tennis match. The car in front of me stopped completely (there were children on it, so imagine: "Please, please daddy! Don't kill it!") and I almost smashed my car against them. "Come on! Kill the fuckin' cat! Do you want to kill us all?" I shouted to them.
I didn't feel bad about it.
