Ziggy Stardust and the Butlers from Montreal

In perhaps the ultimate gesture of admiration, Torontoist has learned that the Arcade Fire will play back-up to Mssr. David Bowie on his next concert tour. This is not totally surprising - since Bowie has had an increasing presence in the Arcade (they wrote a song for him) while the Thin White Duke has been big upping their album to just about anyone. Whenever it is they play these alleged shows (probably to promote Bowie's new DVD release in the fall), Toronto will indubitably be a tour stop.

I don't know how true this is, but it would be awesome. Hunky dory, in fact.

More investigation yielded this, via http://www.tinymixtapes.com:

[b]Arcade Fire Become Even More Fashionable[\b]

The Arcade Fire will perform at Radio City Music Hall September 8 for the Conde Nast Fashion Rocks show, on a bill which includes Rob Thomas, Destiny's Child, Duran Duran, Billy Idol, Alicia Keys, Tim McGraw, Nelly, Shakira, Gwen Stefani, Joss Stone, and David Bowie. There is the possibility that The Arcade Fire will back Bowie. The show, sponsored by Citi, Chevrolet, and L'Oréal Paris, will be broadcast on CBS the next night.

You know what that means, right? It means we'd better stop covering The Arcade Fire with any seriousness and had better start writing snarky, biting, dismissive, bitter, lazy, poorly written articles about them because they're about to hit another mainstream mark. So say goodbye to the great band you once held dear and curl into the fetal position with your Wolf Parade EP and your Clap Your Hands Say Yeah album, you whiny self-righteous bastards.

This fall's tour schedule for The Arcade Fire has been expanded, which means you now have the chance to heckle them in person. "Sell out hacks!", and "Corporate whores!" you can yell in 30 cities. When you're in Minneapolis, you can write "slave" on your face. What is the matter with you?

I don't understand, I listenned once more to funeral and I find it very very contemporary i.e. not likely to transcend the years. Bowie is my MainMan and I would bow to him and sell my soul and blablabla but he sometimes has strange taste. It's like the tour with nin inch nails in 96-97, a big mystery for me... Well, maybe it's just me.
