i've been a big fan of the 'kiley for a couple of years now. i didn't like 'more adventurous' tho. the first two are great. and jenny lewis's new album is gorgeous. i might be seeing her in dublin if i can get tickets. i kinda don't like her as a person tho. probably cos she's gone out with all the people i would like to.
except blake sennett, i don't like him...

I just got "More Adventurous" yesterday. I wanted to get "Execution," but I had a Circuit City gift card to use, and the local Circuit City only had "Adventurous." Anyway, I like the album. My favorite songs are "Portions For Foxes" and the title track.

Hey, I liked it! Rilo Kiley is a band I've been meaning to investigate further. I've heard a few of their songs and really enjoyed them. Any opinions as to what album I should start with?

I don't know that I can hear much similarity between Jenny Lewis (what I've heard of her, anyway) and Neko Case, although they're both great singers. But then, I've seen some reviews refer to RK as having a country influence, which I really can't hear in any of their songs I'm familiar with.

"Furnace Room Lullaby" is my favorite Neko album, but I don't think you can really go wrong with any of 'em.

:(

I don't know why I bother.

I'd walk her everyday, into a shady place

Digging up this thread... I read a very good review of the Jenny Lewis + Watson Twins record, and I heard 30s of it this morning and it sounded nice (well, as nice as 30s of a song can sound...). And I just figured she's the RK lead singer. So, tell me all about them. What style is RK? How good is Jenny Lewis' solo album? Where should I start? And while we're at it, and since I've read references about Neko Case in every article about Jenny Lewis, I'd like to know more about her too. Thanks.

(note: in fact I've heard songs by them. Benji put Neko's "Runnin' Out Of Fools" on his mix and it's a fantastic song, and Homer put RK's "A Better Son/Daughter" on his and I don't remember it at all :( )

I'm seeing them at Across the Narrows. Never actually heard a song before. Which album does anyone reccomend to begin with?

I think I might have heard a song of theirs at some point. Did they do "The Execution Of All Things"?

It's kind of unusual for me to get into a female-fronted band, too. All of the first few bands I got into had male leads. The first female artist I started liking was Tori Amos, but she's not a band.

And I've never seen "The Wizard," but I feel like I should, since I like Nintendo a lot.

The Wizard! Of all the remakes of Rainman that involved the NES, this picture was surely the best. Stallone's truck from Over the Top also turns up in the background if you pay close attention, which, by the way, no man should ever have to.

This all makes no sense in the slightest, it's brilliant!

I heard a song by them called Science Vs. Romance on the radio recently. It was a lovely song.

Let 'em riot. We're Sonic-fuckin'-Death Monkey.

Hey Simon, I have danced to 'Portions For Foxes' at Smile before now.

according to their website they're playing a load of dates in the US. I have 3 of their albums, all of them are *really* strong, a great mixture of songs. listening to the latest one at the moment.

I would like to see them live. you're right that it's so rare to see female fronted bands... and so important to support them.

I saw Rilo Kiley on a late night comedy show and thought they were awesome.

*Off Topic* I did hear this up and coming singer songwriter who is amazing... she goes by the name Ellis. great lyrics and songs and such a cute and quirky personality.

anyway would like to hear more of Rilo Kiley... aren't they opening up for a big tour sometime soon??
