Posted - 07/24/2005 : 23:44:02 I've heard a lot about this guy recently, what with his 50 states project and his new album "Illinoise". But besides that I know nothing about him! Can anybody pass on any info, etc? I'll probably check out his music but it's always nice to hear what other people/fans think. |

Posted - 07/27/2005 : 20:18:11 Illinois is fantastic. I thought it was interesting about the fuck up on the cd artwork-putting Superman on it without getting the legal approval first, then having to recall all the cd's and print a new cover. That cost plenty I'm sure. A local store in Dallas bought like 150 copies of it and went ahead with selling the banned cover, but they sold in the first 3 hours (the store is obviousy a major Sufjan proponent). I tried to buy it from them 4 days later not realizing they were sold out and had to buy the Superman cover off ebay. I'm really enjoying the music and loved Michigan as well.

Posted - 07/25/2005 : 08:25:38 Rolling Stone just gave his Illinois 4 stars
http://www.rollingstone.com/reviews?pageid=rs.Home&pageregion=triple1
Also in that same issue (the Aug. 1, I think) they also review Honeycomb and give 3.5 stars and run a purdy picture of Frank standing by a bunch of logs. Ya.

Posted - 07/25/2005 : 07:13:00 his website is pretty lame, but Sufjan is fantastic nonetheless.
i've seen him thrice and own all his records, and hopefully will be going to see him again in august.
the best thing to do is to go to www.sufjan.com and check out the websites for both his labels (athsmatic kitty and sounds familyre) and get some mp3s from there. his stuff is great (in my opinion...)
