Posted - 07/14/2005 : 09:59:49 i just rented this last night and enjoyed it immensely. of course, i probably wouldn't have liked it quite as much if miss Tautou wasn't in it, but it was a spledid film.
the idea i get from Jean-Pierre Jeunet is that he's like Wes Anderson in a way: they both kind of stick to their laurels with each film, but i'll be damned if it isn't gold every time.
too bad i can't post anymore picks of audrey... what are whoreatthedoor and i to do?

Yesterday I watched a poor spanish imitation of his style. It didn't get the magical, surrealistic point like him.

I didn't think the two films had that much in common, apart from the same staff. I liked Amelie a lot (who didn't?), but this one is much darker, with an unnecessary hard to follow storyline (how exactly that main character was able to deduct whether her lover was still alive or not, will probably always remain a mistery to me). But the undressing scene with the matches is an instant classic. Overall, still a pretty decent movie. And af course, Tatou remains adorable.

But I'm willing to give AVLE a chance I guess.
