i dont know if you have this wristband thing in other countries but in england we have wristbands for everything-pretty much every charity has one now, and most shops are cashing in on it too, so nobody actually knows why they are buying them, but now there is one that will show that you dont like nasty things like war and bullying, hurrah, we're saved!

so what silly wristbands have you lot seen? until now it was the RSPA one with 'be nice to animals' on it, cos until i saw that i was planning on jumping on kittens

i suppose for the make poverty history wrist bands at first they did a pretty good job of raising awareness (ooohhh a wristband, i havent seen one of those before, whats it for? type thing) and raising money, but now that there are loads of others, including ones not even for charity, so i dont think they have much of an effect

I thought that was Oor Wullie there, imagine my disappointment! Still, I like it. I like anything in dialect.

How's that for a slice of fried gold?

I would wear one that says: "I chose not to choose life"

we get lots of WWJD? wristbands down here. some of my coworkers wear them halfway up to their elbows. reminds me of the asshats with 6 dozen differenet colored "choose life/support the troops/breast cancer awareness/teacher appreciation/save the dophins/whatever is trendy this month" ribbon-shaped bumper stickers plastered all over the backs of their SUVs.

edit: whoops, guess i should read vovat's posts before i reply. sorry, man.

i am sitting here observing my emotional discomfort.

I hate all these bands.

Don't believe the type!

I think I'll just stick with the ribbon-shaped magnets on my car bumper, thanks!

These wrist bands have been popular around my area for about a year or so. They first emerged with Lance Armstrong's charitable Live Strong bracelets. Since then, it seems that every charitable organization offers some sort of colored rubber bracelet. I've never owned one myself, but they seem to still be pretty popular, although not to the extent they were about a year ago.
