Okay so I'm just a teensy bit overexcited over this - been waiting since last October and finally the details are through:

Fractured Transmitter Records has set an August 23 release date for the MELVINS tribute album, "We Reach: The Music of the Melvins". The tentative track listing for the CD is as follows:
MARE – "Nightgoat"
MASTODON - "The Bit"
STRAPPING YOUNG LAD - "Zodiac"
THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN - "Honey Bucket"
HIGH ON FIRE/KEELHAUL - "Oven"
PIG DESTROYER - "Claude"
ABSENTEE - "Revolve"
MEATJACK - "Shevil"
FEAR FACTORY/SYL/MASTODON – "Joan Of Arc"
DOG FASHION DISCO - "Anaconda"
AGORAPHOBIC NOSEBLEED/ISIS - "Boris"
EYEHATEGOD - "Easy as It Was"
DISENGAGE - "Raise a Paw"
CKY/GNARKILL - "Laughing With Lucifer At Satan’s Sideshow"
MARITIME MURDER - "Copache"
MADE OUT BABIES - "Bar X and The Rocking M"

I know most of these bands are way heavier than what most of you on here listen to, but a couple of you are Melvins fans, so thought it may be of interest.

This is going to be like aural porn for me.

Meatjack - Shevil
Strapadon Factory (Mastodon/Strapping Young Lad/Fear Factory)– Joan Of Arc
Isis/Agoraphobic Nosebleed - Boris

These three tracks - pretty much on loop since I got the album.

Fire made it good.

fbf - i stand corrected.

man, that track listing is great. plus it's sweet that Dilinger Escape Plan are covering "Honey Bucket"...should be a bitching, scorching cover. Does Mike Patton still do vocals for them?

Oh and it'd be a phenomenal way to be introduced to some of the bands on the list.

No sadly he doesn't - Greg Puciato does - brilliant front man (sadly not even in the same league as Patton vocally).

Apl - I'd totally forgotten about that Melvins DVD - thank you thank you for reminding me.

Thanks, man. I pretty much have been -things are heatin up lately. You know, when it rains, it spews.

I'm not really familiar with any of the bands on this tribute album. Maybe this will be a great way to get an introduction.

From what I've read I'm not sure they "kicked" him out of the band. I think it was more his decision, due to personal problems. But I know nuthink. There was talk about it here a while back.

Surfer, I forget, did you ever get your paws on that Live DVD (Salad of a Thousand Delights)? Man, is it kickass... and great to work out to. ;)
The sound production is really lousy though - best for getting the feel of being there with your ears full of beer and puke.

No shit Surfer, they are one of my favorite bands! I thought about posting about them recently on this forum but figured nobody'd be interested. Shame on me! I'm kind of pissed about them kicking Kevin out of the band recently but the Melvins are to bass players as Spinal Tap is to drummers. I had my tickets all ready to go for the last tour than they cancel the goddamn thing right before they get to my town! AAARRRGGGGGGHH!!!!
Surfer Rosa Posted - 08/16/2005 : 14:09:28
Wow - had no idea there were quite so many Melvins fans (and that they are as ridiculously excited over this as what I am.)

Mosleyk - I'm trying very hard not to be insanely jealous of you.

This is amazing! About time someone pay tribute to The Melvins.

I have seen them live 3 times. The first show I ever saw in DC (or the U.S., for that matter) was the Melvins opening for Helmet. I went to see the former, of course, and they blew me away. Dale Crover is one of the best drummers in the history of underground rock. And I have nothing but the utmost respect for them always sticking to their musical guns and vision, no matter how perverse/fucked-up/heavy/weird it would come off as to the status quo.

thanks for the great news, Surfer. I'm especially pleased to see Night Goat, Honey Bucket (!!fuckyes!!), Revolve, Anaconda (!!fuckyesagain!!), and Bar X the Rocking M on that track listing.

Hey thanks Surfey, great cover!!
Yeah..The Breeders & The Melvins one of the weirdest/coolest bills ever!!
mosleyk Posted - 08/15/2005 : 17:08:15
Wow this is awesome! I had no idea about the tribute album, so thanks for posting this. I only had the pleasure of seeing the Melvins once live when they and the Breeders opened for Nirvana. It was a great show, and how I didn't get trampled in the mosh pit I will never know.
Surfer Rosa Posted - 08/15/2005 : 10:04:19
okay this is going to be a bit heavy for most but for those of you who know you love it here's a little sneak preview

I am insanely excited over this.

The Bit is an awesome cover by Mastodon - seen it live a few times and it slays me everytime. I'm excited by the Dillinger cover and of course the Isis too.
Levitated Posted - 05/31/2005 : 14:43:22
Awesome news!!!, didn't know about the tribute album.
Well The Melvins deserved it!!

Somebody should've covered At a Crawl and Mombious Hibachi too
Surfer Rosa Posted - 05/31/2005 : 14:25:28
I'm not alone!
Chris Knight Posted - 05/31/2005 : 14:22:32
"Laughing With Lucifer"... isn't that the song from Honky featuring phone messages from record company people? That should be a hoot.
Lots of great songs there. Looking forward to the Agoraphobic Nosebleed/Isis and Mastodon covers. Too bad Meshuggah didn't make the cut.
Surfer Rosa Posted - 05/31/2005 : 14:18:51
Not to worry I think there are very few who do here. This was just one of the most exciting bits of news I had today even though I know there are probably only 2 other forum members who may be interested.
Carolynanna Posted - 05/31/2005 : 12:26:29
But of course, but then I think you should change your signature to include the clause (except about Canadian maple syrup...)you could even add something like...oh say...because in that case Carolyn was right...heehee.

Sorry Nic, I don't know much about the Melvins.

Nah - he'd be wanting to run off with my friends - I still get teased for being indie girl.

Not that I'd let anyone's husband!
