Me being the music uncultured dummy that I am, I'm turnig to you guys for some help.
Every time I listen to the Tom Waits' song, "Alice", I think I would love to hear that kind of music more often. You know, that type of music, Jazz-y, but with a little bit of blues in it? I don't really know how to describe what I'm thinking of, but I can offer you some more examples of what I'm looking for: Nina Simone's "Wild is the Wind" is a great example. Also, the main theme from Twin Peaks, with that clarinet (?) sound that gives it a melancolic feel to it...
So, any clue to what I'm talking about? Is there anyone out there doing this type of stuff?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, early Tom Waits. Other than that, I'm afraid I can't help you.
