True, my parents are clever, but can you explain genius by genetics?
I sometimes wish I was stupider, it would probably make me happier. But then, I consider my position, high above the masses, and I think that sacrificed happiness is just the price to pay. Maybe I'm wrong but, hell, who could know?
As I said before, I sometimes even outsmart my self. Then I have to slow down a little. Or get drunk.

Monsieur - Seems to me that lately you've been trying to provoke, benevolently no doubt, perhaps to enliven our ever-increasingly feel-good forum.
Everythng is an accident of nature, including both the genes and behaviorial inclinations that seem associated with high intelligence. As I've posted elsewhere, "a million people is nature's way of making a one in a million person" (Schopenhauer).
I have often wondered whether most or even all intellect might not be pathological in origin. The child has an itch and becomes an expert at scratching, salving, medicating, .... The oyster, a grain of sand, a pearl. I've read that most cases termed "genius" are really talent practiced obsessively. Are most strengths compensatory for commensurate weaknesses? Manifestations of "Will to Power"?
But I suspect this topic has little to do with intelligence, and perhaps more than a little to do with Monsieur, and that would be a good thing, in my opinion. |
