It's frustrating, because people don't seem to be getting angry about this. I hate all these complacent americans. This whole country's goin' to hell, and no one cares.
Article excerpt: "On Nov. 1, 2000, as George W. Bush was campaigning for the White House, he warned an audience in Minneapolis that the Democrats would lead the nation into a future of higher taxes and slower economic growth that "could mean an end to this nation's prosperity." Bush won the election in part by portraying himself as an antidote to tax-and-spend liberals. Yet despite this bold austerity rhetoric, discretionary spending rose 23 per cent in Bush's first term. Just over four years after harping on the dangers of fiscal irresponsibility, the President is on his way to making his own warnings a reality."

If you guys agree, I'm gonna feel like Jimmy Carter standing between Arafat and Saddat right before they started handing out the Nobels.

Somewhat on topic, today I saw a bumpersticker that said "Save America, Buy a Lobbyist." Perhaps Erebus and darwin will agree on this -- the whole lobbying thing is out of control?
Agreed. Freedom, such as it may be, begets many a monster. |

They´ll find out, when you support it you invite it home.

I'm only half joking when I ask.

Actually, I do think that the Clintons murdered Foster, and others, and that Bill is a rapist. But I guess that's small change in relation to a blood-for-oil robber baron.
Well, that says a lot about how hatred seems to cloud your thinking. |

The words democracy, socialism, freedom, patriotic, realistic and justice have each of them several different meanings which cannot be reconciled with one another. In the case of a word like democracy, not only is there no agreed definition, but the attempt to make one is resisted from all sides".
I'm not arguing for the right; though, I'm not arguing for the left either.

Is it? I invite you, with good will, to say more. I genuinely think we need to be honest about collective human motivations. Survival uber alles, yes? |

So macho cowboy posturing is more important to you than libertarianism? You can put up with Christian evangelicals dictating the agenda of the President as long as Bush gives a 'good' speech.
PS You forgot to accuse Clinton of murdering his boyhood friend Foster.
Damn, we are up late aren't we, west coast boys that we are.
Actually, I do think that the Clintons murdered Foster, and others, and that Bill is a rapist. But I guess that's small change in relation to a blood-for-oil robber baron.
You are right to suggest that my libertarianism takes a backseat to the realities of force. I'm a libertarian under the umbrella of security, but the security does come first. Principle be damned; biology is, at minimum, a function of violence. An early innovation of dna was the cell wall. Defense and offense, our eternal dance, and rightly so, for what alternative would we have? |

interesting. how many more years of hell do we have left?
Funny. Just as it amazed me that so many wished Clinton could reign, and rape, for four or eight more years, so now I find myself wishing that Bush Jr could become prez for life. Yes, I too hate the spending, but then, to maintain power the repubs must promise like dems. At least with Bush we have entered a new regime of realpolitik, in which truth is spoken to power, in which we confront radical Islam, North Korea, and mainland China for what they are. Spare us Clinton and Carter and their impotent negotiations. |
