Alright, I know this is the umpteenth thread about Donnie Darko, but its all good.
First of all let me express my rage that Robbie freaking Williams was awarded Best British Song Of The Last 25 Years at this year's Brit Awards when Love Will Tear Us Apart was nominated.

So. Anyone have any satisfactory conclusions on this yet? I was thinking on watching it this time, maybe it's all just a product of Donnie's disturbed mind and emotional problems, and this is backed up by the fact that there actually was a guy dressing as Frank which would play on this. However, this still wouldn't fit in with the alternative beginning at the end, where Donnie's still in his room when the engine hits.
Any scientists here that can tell me if the time travel logic works right through to the conclusion? Is it to do with the fact that once one is able to see the future (in this case, the 'spears' that come out of the chest) one is able to change one's destiny? To my mind this is changing the future not the past, so how does the wormhole come about?
Aargh!

My flatmate came in towards the end and asked what I was watching:
"Donnie Darko? Basic plot line?"
Well no, not really...

I'm like a lost snail in the night.

Lemme go watch the director's cut again. I'll ponder that.

dreams, the events you play out and play along with in your subconscious, really having a time with your mind and making the best of it while you can hold on, yet not messing with it.
it's basic, but it's the best i can manage.

It could be a tid bit.

no, time travel and all that bullshit is not possible..... ahem, it's well documanted and factual. Everyone knows Genghis Khan was Elvis with a temper because he lost the pipe Columbus gave him when they met in Lenny Jenkins's apartment (you may not know him yet but he's going to be big in the future).

Point is you can try to figureit out and pick holes in the plot all you like. Some guy sat down and wrote a script about a time-travel/drama kind of film and you got Donnie Darko.

"wormholes" - no shit what's that? worms make them?

Good film though.
