Posted - 04/12/2005 : 07:15:20 As a man of Good Taste I, hWolsky, also known as Peter Wachsman, or That Damned Pretencious Parisian (soon to turn to Roy Blood) would advice to have an ear to the brilliant work of Mr Marc Almond. Yes he was in that duet Soft Cell... that's all you know about him. But please! We are here to improve and trenscend our ideas 'toutes faites'. Right. From 1984 until today he released a huge and trully amazing collection of albums. From Cabaret-like productions to perfect pop songs like no one would dare to sing today. He worked with thousands people including the band Foetus and even Nico (yes, THE NICO) for a song in 1988 that would be her very last. He covered everything with taste and talent. From the Stones to Madonna (!!), Brel to Bowie, the Velvet U to Charles Aznavour, Bizet to Juliette Grécot, even beautiful Russian songs on his latest opus. His career and his being so bold reminds me of real things like Bowie. His 'I am a performer then I release an album as soon as I can could it be twice a year' attitude reminds me of our beloved Frank Black. Voilà, if you have the oportunity to listen to him, do it with an open mind. If you like stories of hustlers and decadent politicaly uncorrect words, rush to his albums... though it is his voice and the elegant shape of his music that made me love him.
I would advise for a start the album "Mother Fist and her five daughters" which is not an ode to fistfucking, but could be. "Enchanted" is a jewel of refined electropo full of surprises.
Thanks for your attention.

I have been listening to Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret for the past few days.
Used to feel sorry for the poor guy in "Frustration." When did I become him?
