I think Pachisi and Parcheesi might be two different games. Someone gave me this information on an earlier thread, but I can't remember who it was.

"Reunion? Shit union!"

I found myself humming another song with "parcheesi" in the lyrics- b52's "party out of bounds"

what can you do to save a party? parcheesi, charades, spur of the moment? scavenger hunt, or queen of the nile!

pachinko is like a vertical pinball machine. They had a brief bit of popularity in the U.S. in the 70's with the whole pinball wizard/ arcade thing. I saw a couple of vintage pachinko machines in a store in L.A.- they were lovely. The artwork on them can be very beautiful. Frank says "pachisi," but the board game I had as a kid was called "parcheesi." American version, I guess.

quote: How big is the pachinko business in Japan? Well, it employs a third of a million people, three times more than the steel industry; it commands 40 percent of Japan's leisure industry, including restaurants and bars; and with 30 million regular enthusiasts coughing up almost 30 trillion yen in 1999 (a higher turnover than the car industry), it's very big business indeed. So big, that foreign businesses are getting in on the act. While much of the pachinko industry has long been controlled by residentsof Korean descent, in early 2001 British company BS Group bought a stake in Tokyo Plaza, who run about 20 parlors in Japan, and have also opened parlors in the UK.

I guess if you got nothing better to spend your money on, grab some silver balls and join in the fun
personally, i don't get it

30 trillion yen. what's that in pounds d'ya know?
